  • 9th May: “Music In Hospitals” Charlie will be performing for the residents. Always a favourite.
  • 10th May: Golden Oldies Cinema Club at Ardler Complex is showing “Meet me in St Louis”.
  • 19th May: Ally B will be performing in the big lounge singing songs old and new for residents to join in and dance to.

Remember, we have our weekly Bingo and chair exercises every second day. We’ve also introduced a new game for all to join in “Play Your Cards Right”.

Reminiscence Group

29th May – 4th June
29th May is the start of Dementia Awareness week. Every resident will be making memory cards featuring a special memory for them. We will also be holding our Dementia Café on the 1st June where family members and friends are invited to join us for a cup of tea/coffee served with delicious selection of home-made cakes. The Dementia Café lets you know you are not alone and we are here to help you with any questions you may have or to just have a nice blether.

Wishing Tree Wednesday

Following on from the success of our Wishing Tree that was introduced in January, we have Wishing Tree Wednesday. Each Wednesday afternoon a resident will pick a wish from the wishing tree and that wish will be granted for them. Whether it is going out for lunch, visiting an old friend, enjoying the botanical gardens or a shopping trip. Everyone will get their turn and wish.

Thursday Lunch Club

Our residents get to pick a favourite food for lunch and it will be prepared and served for them in the Activity/Therapy room. What is your favourite lunch?

Training & Development

As part of our continued investment and training in all of our staff, we have recently held training in:

  • Visual Impairments
  • Moving & Handling
  • Promoting excellence in Dementia
  • Stress & Distress awareness
  • Diabetes awareness

with more courses and topics planned.

We’ve also forged stronger links with the mental health liaison teams, peripatetic nurses and local NHS.

Looking back on April’s events

We celebrated 5 residents birthdays this month! As always, a celebratory cake was made by our cooks Shirley and Mary.
A regular and popular event for our residents now, is our visit to the Ardler Complex. They hold the “Golden Oldies Cinema Club” and this month’s showing was “Easter Parade”. Everyone enjoyed their choc ice during the film and we had teas, coffees and cake before returning home.
On Good Friday we held our Easter Egg Competition. Residents busily decorated their boiled eggs and there were some really colourful entries. A prize was given to all and we had great fun!
Entertainer Mike Lees performed for us again and performed a selection of wonderful songs that our residents sung and danced along.
